Liberty Gospel Ministries is a fellowship of 50 or more local churches in southeastern India with a vision to evangelize villages where there is little or no Christian witness, like the thousands of Hindu communities in the area.
For some time prior to 2004, Liberty Gospel’s leader, Pastor Samuel, had been in touch with Melvin Adams about working together to preach in these villages and to train pastors. The Tsunami disaster of 2004 burst a door of opportunity wide open!
Melvin and the Community Bible Church in Emmett, Idaho spearheaded a Tsunami Relief Fund to provide aid at Liberty Gospel Ministries’ request. Barnabas and other ministries and individuals across America contributed through this fund.
Financial and Spiritual Support
This Tsunami Relief Fund provided aid for food, cooking utensils, fishing nets, water wells, toilets, and to repair homes and boats for local fishing communities. The Fund also provided financial assistance to a home for children orphaned in the disaster.
Following up on an invitation from LGM relayed through Melvin, Barnabas Ministries conducted a regional Pastors Conference in Bapatla the following year (2006). We have sponsored and conducted more than a dozen conferences throughout S. India in the years since.
As a further result, Barnabas and Liberty Gospel ministries have partnered in a wide array of efforts to strengthen the Christian witness in this predominantly Hindu region.
